Bach’s Enduring Legacy

In 1997, I heard a live performance of St. Matthew Passion in Germany under the direction of Helmuth Rilling. That experience simply changed my life. 20 years later, I had the honor of performing it again in Colorado with some amazing musicians including the 36 members of the Colorado Children’s Chorale. Before the first performance, I had a chance to visit the young singers in their warm-up to encourage them to remember this experience of singing this monumental work and expressed my hope that someday, one of those singers might be able to continue the work that I have been doing with Colorado Bach Ensemble to share this wonderful gift we have been given.

As we wrap up our fifth season, I would like to share with our community that the Colorado Bach Ensemble is growing both in quality and quantity. We hope to continue this trajectory so this beautiful art form not only can survive but to thrive throughout generation after generation.

I want to express my deepest gratitude for everyone’s patronage and support through your generous contributions and concert attendance.

By the Numbers

Here are some numbers of attendances for concerts we presented this season.

Cantata Insights Series in February
Gottes Zeit is die allerbester Zeit, BWV 106; 242 attended
St. Matthew Passion; 422 attended

A total of 1569 attended our concerts throughout our fifth season. We had more people attend our 2017 concerts than the previous season with 1123 total attendees. 446 more people attended our concerts this season than the previous season.

Helping Hands

We also had a number of very dedicated volunteers who served as ushers, hosts for our out-of-town guests or helped with event management, concert logistics, ticketing, and much more, I’m sure. In order to bring you excellent artistic product, there is so much going on behind the scenes.

There is still much work to do, and I ask you to continue to be part of our journey together. Colorado needs JS Bach!

We are busy preparing for our next season, and we will be sharing what we have in store for our upcoming season sometime in May.

Best wishes,
