CANTATA INSIGHTS SERIES

Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan, BWV 99
(What God does is done well)

One of Bach’s most joyous opening choruses, features engaging and virtuosic writing for the flute. Sir William Walton was so captivated by it, he created an instrumental arrangement for full orchestra! We hear extensive chromatic sequences and daring harmonic shifts.  This glorious work is clearly a reflection of his confidence in God and strong faith.

About the Cantata Insights Series

Colorado Bach Ensemble’s “Cantata Insights Series” gives audiences an opportunity to learn more about Bach’s many cantatas. In these popular and educational concerts, Artistic Director James Kim has a special way of explaining what he knows, drawing you into the wonders of Bach’s music. After James gives his insights on a “guided tour” through one of the cantatas, the ensemble performs the work in its entirety, giving the audience a fresh perspective on one of Bach’s magnificent works.
