Amy Millesen is a trumpet player and educator currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Trumpet Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder where she studies with Ryan Gardner.
A versatile and active performer, Amy is a member of the Athena Brass Band and the Chromatic Brass Collective. She has also performed with the Civic Orchestra of Los Angeles, Opera Colorado, the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, and the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. In 2023, she was a member of the University of Southern California Trumpet Ensemble that was awarded first place in the small ensemble division of the National Trumpet Competition. Most recently, she earned first place in both the 2025 International Women’s Brass Conference Mock Military Band Audition Competition and the International Trumpet Guild Wind Band Excerpts Competition.
Amy holds a Master of Music from the University of Southern California where she studied with Tom Hooten and Jennifer Marotta, and a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University where she studied with Chris Carrillo.
