Brittany St. Clair is a Filipino-American soprano, born and raised in California, who approaches Baroque music as an art of storytelling – where text, gesture, and sound are inseparable. She brings a cross-cultural perspective to her artistry, shaped by North American and international collaborations. A passionate interpreter of Baroque repertoire, Brittany has performed in The Fairy-Queen as part of the Cambridge Early Music Summer Programme in the UK and is an active participant in Vancouver’s Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Program. During her Master’s in Opera Performance at the University of British
Columbia, she became a dedicated member of the Early Music Ensemble, deepening her commitment to stylistic nuance and period practice. She has received guidance from Canadian soprano Suzie LeBlanc and artists of Early Music Vancouver, experiences which have shaped her approach to text-driven, expressive singing. Her opera roles include Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Despina in Così fan tutte. Beyond singing, Brittany enjoys studying Baroque dance, gesture, and period costume as extensions of musical storytelling. She is relocating to Colorado this summer and looks forward to contributing to the region’s vibrant early music community.
