Kenrick Mervine began his career as an Organist and Accompanist while in High
School. Earning degrees in Organ/Harpsichord from Westminster Choir College,
Princeton, NJ, he and his wife, Barbara, also a Westminster graduate, began
performing throughout the metropolitan region.
Since moving to Colorado, Ken appears regularly with the Colorado Symphony; is
Organist/Associate Music Director at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church,
Highlands Ranch, CO; and Choir Director/Keyboardist at Temple Emanuel, Denver.
He is privileged to have been the Principal Continuo player since the founding of
the Colorado Bach Ensemble.
Ken and Barbara, working with the Allen Organ Company, design, install, and
repair organs for liturgical, theatre, and educational use. They have a working
relationship with several well-known composers and have commissioned many
significant works (some of which have become liturgical favorites). As Allen
Organ Artists they have brought humor and levity to the concert and liturgical
platforms, been featured at numerous AGO Conventions, the American Theater
Organ Society, the Hour of Power at the Crystal Cathedral, and filled in for the
“First Lady of the Organ,” Diane Bish, at the Pikes Peak Center at the last minute.
Their recordings have been featured on KVOD Radio, NPR’s PipeDreams with
Michael Barone, Canadian Public Radio, and on OrganLive.com.
