Rev. Dr. Knut Heim, Professor of Old Testament, joined the faculty of Denver Seminary in Colorado in 2016. He is a Presbyter (an ordained pastor) in the Methodist Church of the United Kingdom and an Associate Elder in the Mountain Sky Conference of the United Methodist Church. Prior to his arrival in Colorado, Dr. Heim has been Professor of Old Testament at The Queen’s Foundation/University of Birmingham (UK) and at Trinity College/University of Bristol (UK), where he also served as Director of the Postgraduate Research Program, as Academic Dean, as Vice President, and as Acting President. His academic work focuses on biblical poetry, and he has published three books and numerous articles and essays on all of the poetic books of the Hebrew Bible. He is passionate about the transformative power of the fine arts, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Christos Collective, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization established to cultivate artists of Christian faith to impact culture with their art. His vision for working with the Colorado Bach Ensemble is to cultivate appreciation for the spiritual dimension of Bach’s music and its potential to contribute to human flourishing.
