Todd Teske, tenor, has performed opera and oratorio throughout the Rocky Mountain region and beyond, from Colorado’s Front Range and Wyoming, to New York, California, Kansas, Maine, Washington, D.C., Germany, and Morocco.
Recent performances include Mendelssohn’s Walpurgisnacht with the Colorado College, soloist in Bach cantatas with Colorado Bach Ensemble and the Taylor Choir of Colorado Springs, and Handel’s Messiah with Parish House Baroque/Colorado Vocal Arts Ensemble. Mr. Teske premiered the role The Scientist in the opera Locust by Anne M Guzzo in Jackson, WY Laramie, WY , Agadir, Morocco and Glasgow, Scotland.
Todd participated in The Sacred Spirit of Russia (Harmonia Mundi) with Conspirare, which garnered a 2014 Grammy. Todd made his Washington D.C. Kennedy Center solo debut in Handel’s L’Állegro il Penseroso for the Mark Morris Dance Group.
Also at home in opera, he made his European opera debut at Giessen Stadttheater in Germany performing the titular roles in Milhaud’s Le Pauvre Matelot and the world premiere of Jean Francaix’s Le Diable Boiteux. His portrayal of the Witch in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel at the Colorado Opera Festival was received with riotous acclaim.
In New York, Todd won second place at the Richard Tauber International Tenor Competition, soloed in Handel’s Alexander’s Feast with the Dessoff Choirs and Messiah with Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, and three Bach Cantatas with The Canticum Novum Singers. He also appeared as soloist in Bach’s Magnificat and Cantatas 1&125 with Helmuth Rilling at the Stuttgart Bach Academy, Germany. Other past career highlights include: Monteverdi’s Dixit Dominus, Beatus Vir, and Bach St. Matthew Passion with the Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado; Messiah and St. Matthew Passion with the Colorado Bach Ensemble, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Laudate Pueri Dominum with Seicento Baroque Ensemble, and various roles in a Gilbert and Sullivan review with Opera Theater of the Rockies.
